The White Shed Storage Units.
The Men’s Shed had obtained a grant to purchase picture framing equipment and materials and this enabled us to purchase the equipment and material stocks of a framing business which was closing down. Our problem was we did not have suitable storage units for the stock of mounting card or glass sheet for the picture framing.
We looked at the cost of buying ready made units and decided that we could by the material and manufacture the two units for less than the price of one unit, which is what we did.
Garden Benches For Local Church
A local church asked us if we could make them some garden benches for their community church garden. They supplied us with some old scaffolding boards as material to be used. We produced four benches for them of various lengths.
The car park project and refurbishment December 2023
After some work was carried out by our members to clear the car park of all the rubbish and other materials we are on our way to restoring the car park as you can see by the pictures left and right.
The committee would like to thank all members that participated in the cleanup and the refurbishment of the car park. Thank you!
Garden Bench Refurbishment.
We were given two sets of cast iron garden bench seat ends. From another donation to the Men’s Shed we were given the oak frame of a full size snooker table. We used the oak timber for the snooker table to manufacture the seating/backrest slats for the benches and finished them with Marine Varnish and we sanded the cast iron seat ends and recoated them with protective paint. The finished benches were bought by a local bowling club and the money raised from the sale went into the Men’s Shed funds.
John’s Garden Gates
One of our members had a project to build a set of garden gates for his son’s house.
The gates were approx.. 6’ x 4’ each and these were built in the workshop at the Men’s Shed with a number of members getting involved during the construction of the gates which fitted perfectly when installed on site.

Community Hall Shelving
We were asked to assist a local Scout Group by building them some suitable storage shelving units in the community Hall store room for their new stock of outdoor clothing items for the use of the scout members for which they had received a grant to allow them to purchase the kit. When we looked at the store room it was over flowing with “stuff” and we decided to build manageable size units to house plastic container boxes for the kit that could be stacked together rather than fit out the room with fitted shelves. The material for the units was purchased and we built them six units at the Men’s Shed then they were installed on site by the Scout Group themselves.
